SURPRISE MEDICAL BILLS ARE WHAT AMERICANS FEAR MOST
4 out of 10 Americans have received a large surprise medical bill in the last year. An overwhelming 67% of people worry about unexpected medical bills, more than they dread insurance deductibles, prescription drug costs or the basic staples of life: rent, food, and gas.
No Surprise Medical Bills with Aliera
When you sell Aliera to your clients, you can rest assured that you have solved the #1 concern Americans have: unexpected and surprise medical bills. Here’s how:
DOCTOR OFFICE VISITS
Aliera pre-negotiates doctor office visits so that all medical services handled by the doctor in the office, labs, and x-rays are included in the $20 consult fee. When clients go their Doctor’s office, they simply show their ID card and pay the $20 consult fee. They will not receive a balance bill from the doctor’s office. All medical services are pre-paid.
NON-NETWORK PROVIDERS IN HOSPITAL
Surprise medical bills happen often in hospitals and during surgery. Although the hospital is an in-network facility, the anesthesiologist, lab technician, specialist, etc. may not be in the network, which means they have not agreed to the contracted rate. They will bill the patient for everything over what the insurance company pays, causing a large unexpected medical bill that could be $10,000 plus.
Sometimes aggressive bill collection tactics are used. Some may even place a lien on the patient’s house in order to collect the money.
With Aliera, as long as the hospital is in-network and one of the providers is not, the entire claim gets paid, even the portion that is balance-billed, so the members pays no more out of pocket than expected.
It’s also important to mention that almost all providers are in the MultiPlan PHCS network, so having an out-of-network provider would be harder to find.
